Description:

The Smithsonian Institution maintains retail offerings in the Washington D.C. area off the National Mall in areas that provide opportunities for tourists and travelers to purchase museum-related gifts. Since 1997 Smithsonian Enterprises has operated a popular retail store location at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), located in Arlington, VA just across the Potomac River from the Nation’s Capital.

Market Place Development (MPD) is a real estate development firm specializing in the planning, improvement, and management of passenger experience transformation projects at airports across the country. In 2012, MPD began redeveloping the existing food service and retail concessions at DCA. As part of an effort to provide more seated food options within National Hall, the Smithsonian retail store was relocated from its previous location across the hall to a tenant space formerly occupied by Heritage Booksellers.
